Revolutionising Window Shopping

Venue: Throughout the CBD
Date: Throughout the Festival
Cost: Free!

Different schools will convert over 100 shop fronts into gallery space for the duration of the festival. We wish for students to ask themselves "What Makes Up Our Community?" and use this question as inspiration for their artwork. We are eagerly anticipating the diverse interpretations of this concept and what the perceptions of our young people are. This program will showcase the growth of artistic expression across the breadth of youth, from primary school students through to secondary and pre-tertiary, creating a fascinating journey into the maturation of the young mind. It's a great opportunity for students to expose their talents to the community at large and in turn for people to enjoy the talent of local emerging artists. An itinerary of all the schools and students involved will be printed in The Examiner and in the Streets Alive Program.

Artist Karlee Foster, from Tasmanian Regional Arts will curate the project and create a flow between each shop front as she delegates space to each school and classroom and in turn, a recommended trail will be created. Artist Josie Riches will also offer the opportunity for those interested to devise installations made from recycled materials and will visit the campuses to instruct and assist students and teachers with this. These three dimensional and multi-media shop window installations will create spaces that are possibly interactive, tactile or can be navigated through by people on the Shop@rt trail.
