World Wide Moment
Worldwide Moment is a celebration of global community through the promotion of peace and understanding,.  This installation is based on these themes. Through the use of paper doll chains to symbolise people within both the local and global communities, this space aims to create a sense of harmony while still maintaining an element of fun. The paper doll chains will be made from different
colours of paper as well as photographs from Worldwide Moment 2009 and of people and locations within Launceston. These doll chains will be of all different shapes and sizes to suggest the bringing together of differences within communities.

2010's 'Worldwide Moment' is on Sunday 10th October at 10.10am GMT which corresponds to 9.10pm the same day in Launceston and this installation aims to promote your awareness in being involved!

Animal Menagerie
Year 5 students from Scotch Oakburn College created their sculptures following an inspirational visit to "Menagerie" an exhibition of contemporary indigenous sculptures at QVMAG. The students worked with newspaper, tape, wire and paint to create their interpretations of Australian animals which they had researched.
The installation of our sculptures into unexpected spaces creates an element of surprise and changes how we look at the space for a moment.  I think it helps us to view the sculptures, you really notice them because they are in a different place.  Reflective comments by Year 5
Venue: Polly Shoes: Cnr Brisbane & George Streets,  Justin Paul:  90 George Street, Pierres: 88 George Street   Mystate Financial: 67 St John Street

What is SPACE for Animals?
We all need space in one form or another, to satisfy our natural desires, and animals like us, have been given the wonderful ability to move around, whether it be to walk, crawl, run, slither, hop, fly or swim! and to do this, they need space!

As part of Streets Alive we have created a "space" for animals, come and see some of the childrens favorite animals "space" portrayed through an artwork. And a visual display that will take place on
Wednesday the 25th at 12 - 1pm, where some of the participants will become their animal!
Venue: Civic Square - Wednesday 25th 12 - 1pm
