Streets Alive Youth Arts Festival 2010 launched in Launceston!

The 2010 festival was launched on April 9th  in conjunction with the start of National Youth week in Launceston's Brisbane Street Mall. Reclaiming Launceston's most popular public space, the festival team has converted the mall into an art studio with colourful flags, random acts with umbrellas and quirky installations including the Knitted Garden: a beautiful welcoming environment showcasing the unconventional use of wool. The unexpected flash mob dance act by the Cindy Fosters colourful Art C Street Crew definitely caught the attention of all passing by!

The event culminated with an energetic performance by the talented crew from Indigenous Hip Hop Projects (IHPP) which celebrated the fusion of traditional Indigenous culture and hip hop, promotes self expression. The IHHP are in Launceston conducting free hip hop workshops for the National Youth Week 2010 with various schools and colleges. The crew will return to Launceston during the Streets Alive festival in August for Out of the Blue - Hip Hop to the top: A combination of local, indigenous, national hip hop dancers working together towards a final dance off.
