To symbolize the diverse culture withinour local community,a series of flags will be created by individual schools and any group of people from any background or interest, symbolizing the mini-cultures within the local area. The skyline will be set alive with colourful fabrics set aloft on individual and clusters of flagpoles and across the streets, situated around the city and above shop fronts. These original designs will create focal points and talking points within the streets of Launceston. We encourage people to take a flag tour and a story about our community will emerge. The flags caught in the wind will create not only a visually explosive vista, but the sound of the fabrics flapping in the breeze will add to their spectacular presence. The stature of the flagpoles will remind us all of the need to look above and ahead, and in doing so will highlight the amazing architecture of our city.
