Kim Schneiders - Executive Co-ordinator
Kim created the first Streets Alive in 1999 and the 2010 festival will be the 5th time she coordinates Launceston's streets being taken over by Youth Arts. Her passion in creating structures for art to take place which will occur this year through Arts Trails. Kim has a textile and photographic background and loves seeing art in public spaces and people being enthusiastic and passionate about the arts.
Kim also currently coordinates the Access Arts Link program working with a great team of artists with a disability and creative mentors.
Jen Sharman- Executive Co-ordinator
Jen Sharman is excited about being on-board for Streets Alive 2010. For the past three years Jen has been living in Castlemaine, Victoria where she worked for the local council as the Community Arts Facilitator and as the Community Engagement Coordinator for the 2009 Castlemaine State Festival. Previous roles have included working for Tasmanian Regional Arts as their Network Development Officer and establishing 'Arts' Roar Accessible Arts Project. Jen is a great believer in the arts as a vehicle for social change and is looking forward to assisting developing a strong hip hop focus for Streets Alive 2010.
James Newton - Executive Co-ordinator
Founder of the Access Arts Link, James is an accomplished musician, sculptural artist and writer currently working as a Disability Liaison Officer at the Tasmanian Polytechnic. In addition to acting as Secretary and grants coordinator for Interweave Arts and sitting on the board of numerous community arts reference groups including Tasmanian Regional Arts and Arts Access Australia. James also moonlights as an author, contributing written prose for books aimed at raising funds for the Hero Initiative; a charity dedicated to providing a safety net for comic book veterans who fall on hard times.
James passionately believes in the arts as an instrument for social change and is excited about contributing to this year's Streets Alive through a number of projects including Body Spaces, Braille Graffiti and Home Space.
Graham McKenzie - ICT Manager
Graham came on-board at the start of the 2006 Festival. Specialising in IT and communications Graham has been working hard to keep everything concurrent and running smoothly over all our communications and record systems. Graham also moonlights as our resident technical consultant on anything that has a power cord.
Shweta Dakin- Marketing Manager
Shweta is an arts and entertainment marketing professional with over eleven year’s work experience in film, television and events in India, UAE and London. She believes in the power of the arts in its various forms, as an effective communication tool and as a medium which excites her as a marketer. Shweta relocated to Launceston from Mumbai, India, in October 2008 to join her husband who has been born and brought up in Northern Tasmania. She has a Postgraduate Degree in Marketing from India, and a Graduate certificate in Arts from University of Melbourne. Her diverse work experience has included working in organizations ranging from Film studios in Bollywood to television channels like MTV India and Channel V, brand marketing and event management companies. She is currently working as the marketing manager for Junction 2010- the Regional Arts Australia National Conference and the 2010 Streets Alive.
Kama Graham - Marketing Assistant
Kama completed her Business Degree through the University of Tasmania in 2008, and has since then been trying to gain further skills in marketing wherever possible. Finally deciding she needed to gain more practical experience and wanting to be involved with something she believed was beneficial to the community, Kama contacted Kim from Streets Alive about the possibility of her being able to help Streets Alive with their marketing for 2010.
Kama managed to come on board at the perfect time to take on the Social Media component of marketing Streets Alive in 2010. Streets Alive this year will be communicating through the mediums of Twitter, Facebook, Blog, and our YouTube site.
